A BRAND NEW OPERATIONAL CENTER

2020-02-13
The PMI Project includes the creation of a state-of-the-art Operational Center meant to host the heart of INAMET’s meteorological ecosystem. In order to do so, the decision was made to renovate an existing building, adjacent to INAMET’s headquarters: the "Georiskos Building”, former training center.

The future Operational Center will consist of three different spaces:
- A server room that will host 7 computer bays, including INAMET’s next HPC (High Performance Computer).
- A forecasting room meant to welcome 4 forecaster workstations, as well as a high-end wall of screens for efficient display of meteorological data.
- A calibration and maintenance workshop for observation equipment.

The renovation project was launched last October with the selection of a local civil work company: CIVICA. Since then, the project is progressing at a good pace. The first phase of the work concerned demolition and structural work. It was successfully delivered end of December. The first quarter of 2020 will be dedicated to joinery and painting work.
Day after day, the future Operational Center of INAMET takes shape and promises to be the perfect setting for the operation of all the new systems and equipment implemented within the PMI Project.
